The amount of fear in a person which can hinder the person’s efficiency can be called as fear factor. This fear factor often works in a destructive way if you don’t realize. This fear factor can be turned in to constructive nature by putting a conscious effort.

The best way to kill the fear is by Action – David J Schwartz in the book Magic of thinking Big.

Very true, the best way u can get over fear is to take action about it. For example, if you have a stage fear to deliver talks or make presentations in front of the audience, the best way you can get over it is to give more talks and presentations. This initial fear is only a psychological barrier. It only takes that starting hurdle to be crossed to reach great heights in life. Once you take that first step and fight that fear it can never ever affect you again. This first step increases your confidence which can work wonders for you in your next talk.

Fear factor actually is very helpful and good, if you make it work for you in a constructive way. Take the same example of giving talks, having fear that how am I going to deliver it, taken in a positive way, makes you work more towards it, makes you analyze your audience and guess their expectations from the talk which in turn makes you prepare your content of the talk that can impress the audience. This same fear makes you work hard to excel in that task.

The word FEAR itself gives us inspiration to overcome it as mentioned below:

F - Fight
E - Endlessly
A - As to
R - Restore confidence

Travelogue: Banneraghatta national park

As a nature lover, i had been to many places in andaround bangalore. Karnataka as a whole has lot of places of interest where you can spend your weekends away from your busy life. It has very lush greenery regions spread across the horizons, steep water falls, ancient temples etc. I had been to quite some places in karnataka. Every time before i plan to visit any place, like most of us, i do a google search about the place to know about the attractions in the place and how to commute, the places of interest near by etc. Most often it is not that easy to find out about the places. u got to spend considerable amount of time to get these details. I thought of putting all that information at one place here in my blog, and add my personal experience to it. So i started this series: Travelogue. let me start this series by giving information about my recent visit in bangalore, the garden city itself.

My Experience:

Last Saturday, i had been to BanneraGhatta national park. It is located about 20km from the main city(majestic). It has very good bus facility, the BMTC bus is available almost every half an hour. you have a/c volvo bus service also available. As its not so far, it gives you an opportunity to get a small ride of about an hour. As climate in bangalore is most of the times cool, you will surely love this ride through this of rural part of the karnataka.

As i found out through my initial research, it has a Safari ride, butterfly fly park and the zoo as the main attractions. So i started early in the morning at around 8:30 AM ( may be i shouldn't say EARLY in the morning!! r should i ?!!) along with my friend on bike. The zoo opens at 9 AM. As the day progresses the cues for safari ride increases and you will lose your time waiting in the lines unnecessarily. As advised by people(result of my google search), we chose to go early and take safari ride first. We reached the park by 9:30, with a small break for breakfast in between.

Thanks to my pre-preparation, not many people were there, so we were saved from waiting in line for tickets. Ticket prices vary according to plan. we chose to take the best plan(available!!) The grand Safari which includes the entrance fee for zoo as well. Without wasting much time we were headed for the grand safari ride.

Vehicles ( swaraj majda or tempo ) were waiting for us to take us through the wilderness.

Contrary to the idea of the normal zoos, the wild animals are left in open jungle to roam freely during the day time so that they can feel comfortable in their skin and the visitors also can get a natural feel of the jungle with variety of wild species. As a precaution, the vehicles windows were all with iron meshes (for safety, in case anything goes wrong).

The ride started with a visit to bit friendly species, The Stags and Bisons, then to Bears who seem to have not come out of early morning's laziness, happily sitting on road which was laid for these vehicles to traverse. Save the few bears trying to caress each other or fight with each other!!

Forgot to mention that we could catch a front seat adjacent to driver, which gives us an excellent view from front as well as from the side. There are few kids around in the vehicle with their parents. The fact that kids are there, you are bounded to hear some oooos, aahhhhs and some

ooohhhsssss...

and parents struggling to answer their cute n stupid questions, and some parents telling them look hear .. look at the tiger... etc. We had a guide also (provided by zoo authorities along with the driver in the vehicle!!) who was updating us about whats gonna come next and where n which direction we need to look for what and also giving us some stats and history.

All these bears are all vegetarians who eat only fruits and sweet rice. There are about 160 bears over all in the zoo, but they leave only few of them out of the cages in to the open on each day. They leave all these animals batches wise, each day a different batch gets their chance as told by the guide.

As we went ahead, we were greeted by the king of the jungle, the lion, crossing the road in front of our vehicle to join his fellow beings who were playing in the grass across the road and then deciding against it, sat on the small wall toobserve the new creatures in the meshed vehicle!. There were about 5- 6 lions in their all splendor jumping on each other, teasing each other enjoying the openness of the surroundings.

Further ahead in the ride, were the Royal Bengal tigers, who were magnificent proving the grandeur of their clan. There were also rare white tigers who are no inferior to their colored ones. The park has good amount of these endangered species and watching them is a feast for the eyes.

As we moved along in the jungle,

passing the lush green trees, crossing the dangerous curves of the road, we were delighted to see the more cute and mini version of the these mighty animals. The tiger cubs with all their innocence playing in a closed space as their mother kept an eye at the surroundings guarding them. As we continued our wild journey, we could also see the lion cubs who seem to be taking little rest . There were also younger tigers( white and color ones, 2 months old as told by the guide) which are put inside cages.

In brief... the safari ride is an hour of ride into wilderness, gives a close look at Bisons, stags, bears, Lions, Bengal tigers, white tigers, tiger cubs and lion cubs. In essence its worth every penny you have spent. Remember to reach early in the morning to enjoy this ride, because as time progresses there will be very lengthy cues for this.

On your way out from the Safari ride, you will come across the Butterfly park. We got down here, we had to take separate tickets to get inside this. The park design is unique in its nature.

All the butterflies were kept in a circular building covered with a semi spherical dome, it had a big statue of the butterfly at the entrance of the building.

Inside the building there were many different kinds of flower plants, an artificial water fall, the water flowing in to a pond with different kinds of fishes in it and with a bridge on top of it. Overall ambiance was very natural, good, set up the ideal environment for the butterflies. There were many kinds of butterflies happily flying across the flower plants in the building.

However, i felt they could have had more variety of species as this park specifically dedicated for butterflies.Adjacent to this in a separate room, there were models of the wide variety of butterflies. And also, real display of different life stages of the butterflies like, pupa etc. There was also a video show showing the history of the butterflies.

If you have not seen many butterflies before, it gives you a chance to look at this wide collection. But if you have already seen before then this collection is not that WIDE!! As i am from a rural background, i had seen many varieties of butterflies before and i felt this is lacking diverse collection.

The last interesting thing left is the zoo. The zoo has many different species.
It has white and normal peacocks, snakes, pythons, hippos, cranes, ducks, birds, different kinds of parrots, pigeons, panthers, bears, elephants etc. this is is not the greatest of the zoos. It just has kind of sample of each species. This is a bit disappointing, they should have maintained a lot more variety of species. If you have not seen any zoos before then this should make you feel good.

In a Nut shell....

Attractions:

The Safari Ride

The Butterfly Park

The Zoo

Elephant Joy ride( mainly for kids)

How to reach:

Around 21 km from Bangalore city (Majestic).

Good Bus ( BMTC/Volvo) facility from majestic. A thought usually triggers another thought leading to a chain of thoughts. If you start your day with a positive thought, that will trigger another positive thought and in turn leads to lot of positiveness in you. A positive thought makes you feel good, and another positive thought added to it increases that good feelings, which in turn makes you more energetic, confident and make you look forward for what the day has to offer for you. Even if you get few glitches in between, it won't effect you much as you will take them in right spirit and move ahead. This is because you are filled with positive energy because you started your day with a positive thought.

The same goes with the negative thoughts, If you start the day with a negative thought it will lead to more negative thoughts. In that process, you will become more depressed, will lose enthusiasm in life and become dull. It will have effect on each and everything you do on that day. It effects the relations with people you interact, your productivity etc. More importantly, it effects your own personality.

Negative thoughts are hazardous, positive thoughts are energy boosters.

Negative thoughts lead to the doom of the person, positive thoughts leads a person to greater heights.

Here is a small story to emphasise this point.

Many years ago two salesmen were sent by a shoe manufacturer to Africa to investigate and report back on market potential.

The first salesman reported back, "There is no potential here - nobody wears shoes."

The second salesman reported back, "There is massive potential here - nobody wears shoes."

This simple short story provides one of the best examples of how a single situation may be viewed in two quite different ways - negatively or positively.

Here, exactly the same words: "nobody wears shoes" are deciphered in totally different and opposite ways. This clearly proves how positiveness in a person can work wonders for him.

Positive thoughts develop positive attitude in a person, and this attitude is contagious! So always start a day with a positive thought and make your day fruitful.

A Gazillion things about me

Knowing oneself is an art, its not so easy to know thyself. Today, on this Deewali day, i wanna burst/crack that obstruction and continue writing posts regularly.

On this Deewali, I am gonna ignite the light of my future, burning the oil of laziness contained in lamp of my life.

Wishing u all a very happy bright n crackling Deewali..

How often do you sharpen your Axe

Recently i have read this book by name "You Can Win" by Shiv Khera. Even though its not usual type of books i read, i just took the book from my friend and started reading just for the heck of reading. As i started reading the book i must admit, i fell in love with the book. Its one of the excellent books i have read.

The book is driven by very well thoughts of the author and he has put them in a very simple manner. The book has many significant, powerful, simple analogies which will make you wear your thinking hat and make you realize your positives, negatives, dreams. It will help in focusing on your goals and makes you determinant in achieving them by devising a recipe for yourself.

This book has many useful and interesting stories, out of which i felt the below one is very apt for IT professionals.

John, a woodcutter, worked for a company for five years but never got any raise. the company hired Bill and within a year he got a raise. Then John resented Bill's getting a raise after only a year and went to his boss to talk about it. The boss said, "You are still cutting the same number of trees you were cutting five years ago. We are result oriented company and would be happy to give you a raise if your productivity goes up". John went back, started hitting harder and putting in longer hours but he still wasn't able to cut more trees. he went back to his boss and told him his dilemma. The boss told John to go talk to Bill. "May be there is something Bill knows that you and I don't". John asked Bill how he managed to cut more trees. Bill answered, "After every tree i cut, i take a break for two minutes and sharpen my axe. When was the last time you sharpened your axe?"

When was the last time you sharpened your axe? Past glory and education don't count for much. we have to continuously sharpen the axe.

As IT field is very vulnerable, one has to keep updating their skills regularly. Because the Technology of today May become Trash of tomorrow. So In this competitive world,to keep yourself in the race you have to keep updating the knowledge. You have to keep sharpening your axe regularly. Time and again you have to ask this question for yourself, and then take necessary steps.

Passion is the driving force in life

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; <![endif]-->
When life doesn't offer what we want in life, what are we gonna do? Are we gonna just obey and lead a life as it takes? or mold it in a way we want it ? How many of us just say " this is all i have got in life and nothing can be changed " and live a compromised life?

Not many i guess right?!! because life is such a precious thing given by god and it will be a shame if we just waste life without achieving something and lead it without enjoying it!

<u4:p></u4:p>Then what is main factor which really provides us hope and helps in achieving what we want in life. Yes, its the Passion a person has in him/her which is the driving force in achieving what we want in life. By Passion i mean: Zeal , enthusiasm. Passion is the one which ignites fire in person. Its the fuel which drives them forward in life. It makes anyone achieve what they want in life and it surpasses pain they experience in the process. Without passion we don't live the life, rather we just exist ! passion adds Spice to the life.

With passion comes meaning to life, with passion comes hope, with passion comes determination, with passion comes pain, with passion comes success, with passion comes satisfaction.

Some people will be lucky to have their passion as their career. But not everyone is lucky enough!! But that doesn’t stop them in achieving what they want in life. Its only possible because of their passion. Passion has such a magical power , it makes the impossible a possibility. It brings the non-existing into existence.
  <u4:p></u4:p>
<u4:p></u4:p>Different people are passionate about different things. To say few examples:

The goddess of compassion Mother Teresa is the best example of people who has Passion to help others, and passion to serve the poor and needy.

The king of search engine Google is the result of few passionate engineers.

Lord of the Rings, Troy, Gladiator etc. are few examples of a passionate movie Technicians.

The 7 wonders of the world are the result of the Passionate people.

<u4:p></u4:p>In essence, Passion is the driving force in life. Realize your Passion in life and march ahead..

Transitions in Life

Every one in their lives will surely undergo many transitions. Right from the stage we are infants till we die these transitions are part n parcel of our life. The first transition in our life is the transition from innocent infant stage to the cheeky child stage, then from a playful child to a student life, then changing schools, moving from school to college, college to university, then student life to responsible working life, being single to becoming a married person, and so on....
In the process of these transitions we may loose many things very near and dear to us as well as gain many things. Take the example of moving from school to college, here we lose many of our old friends and may have to leave our parents, place n stay in hostel in a new location, amidst new people, and in the process we gain lot of new friends, and meet wonderful people.

Even though there are many transitions in life, according to me, there are two
major/important transitions a person undergoes in life.

1) Change from College life to Working life.
2) From being bachelor to a married person.

About the second one I am not the correct person to talk about. Because I haven’t reached that phase in my life still. First transition is the one I am currently going through. Even though this transition is not new for me (because I had been to this transition earlier also!), the conditions are totally different from the previous instance.

Recently many thoughts were going through my mind about this, disturbing me, making me mad at times!, and giving rise to mixed feelings, feelings that I am missing something and also at the same time gaining something more worthy. So I decided to come out of this confusing state of mind and put a break to these uneasy feelings. After a serious thought, I found many answers to this. If I look at the both phases (college life n working life) I could find many similarities and also differences.

As far as the learning is concerned, it’s a continuous process throughout our lives. However, what we study and learn in our college life is important because that’s gonna fetch us marks/grades and also shape our future. Similarly what we learn in the initial phase of working life will lay the foundation for our future position.

In College life we have full freedom, time for fun, n its enjoyable and cherishable, whereas working life is little restricted, added responsibilities, and could become monotonous at times!. In College life we are dependent (financially) on someone, and in working life totally independent, we make our penny.

Many feel we lose our freedom once we get into working life. That’s true to some extent! In college we can bunk classes when ever we want n enjoy life, but obviously while working we can’t afford to do that, because we are getting paid for every hour we work and have responsibility of finishing the work in time. Work is the one which is fetching us bread and butter. I.e. we earn our bread and butter by working, whereas in college someone else is paying for our bread n butter. So obviously we got to be more responsible. Not only the matter of money, college life is going to decide only our own future, no one or nothing else is affected by it. But in case of working life our performance is not only gonna affect us, but in effect gonna effect the firm v work for also.

But are we really losing out on our happiness here? Is it because in college we have variety of things to do, not only just studying? But in working life we feel bored of doing the same kind of work??

One thing everyone has to remember is many things in life never remain the same, even as we grow up our tastes, likings change. The joy we got as a child playing with toys, seeing cartoons, won’t experience the same kind of joy now. Simply because we have changed with time, and life also changes with time. Obviously we can’t expect the same kind of things in every phase of our lives. If life remains same for ever then what’s the fun?!! So changes in life are must and unavoidable. The important thing to note here is once we start enjoying what we do then life becomes different, looks totally new, appealing, and refreshing.

After all this brain storming, I realized an important truth of life. That is:

Key to Happiness in life is Enjoying What ever we do!

A place for fun frolic

Its been really a while i made a post!!, was busy with my academic schedule. Anyways if i ask anyone of you what is the first thing which comes to your mind when i ask about your college life?? I am sure many people agree with the answer: the fun u had in the college life , the times u hangout with friends, playing pranks with them.etc. If i ask what place in campus comes first to your mind, different people may have different answers. But majority of the people will agree upon "the campus canteen or restaurant " what ever u call it.

Yes my friends, the most precious moments of our college life, or in fact most fun filled or sad moments of our college life are spent in that canteens. Be it sipping chai or coffee , playing pranks with friends, showing one's superiority by teasing others(hard at times!), talking about girls, cursing lecturers, planning to bunk classes, n going out for movies, what not , anything and everything in the world is discussed here. From a stupid silly issue to an amazing and excellent ideas are originated in this very place itself. Its really a place to relax and ease out our tensions(academic or personal), share lighter moments with our dear friends.

This place brings out the creative talents of each one in an attempt to please and make friends happy. All the affairs going on in the campus, all the pretty girls are the hot topics usually in this place. The silly stupid things are discussed for hours n hours and also on the contrary, the terrific ideas which help us to make a mark in our own fields of study takes birth here. The fun we have in this place may not be experienced never ever again in our lives. Thats why we remember all those moments for our life time.

As the bitter truth that the time has finally come for me to leave the portals of the campus, which marks the end of my student life, my mind is filled with many emotions. Really i am gonna miss all this fun... In the movie Hero comes to know that he has blood cancer just minutes before his marriage!! Being a doctor himself he realizes he has not more than two months left in his life. I am not going to tell the whole story now, thats not my interest here. But what he does in those two months caught my attention.

Little bit of background: In the Flashback, he is a very good, famous doctor in US,and he wants to come back to India and start a super specialty hospital in India for all the poor and needy , everything free of cost. With the help and commitment from some of his colleagues(friends) he comes back to India and proposes the plan to his parents, and to his and everyone's delight they agree and appreciate his plan, and ready to invest in the project! then the marriage scene.....

Having a great ideals of serving the poor, he decides to do something in the two months he has got(because he wont be there when the hospital turns out to be a reality!). He decides that He wants to make people happy , and see a smile in their faces! This is an important dialog he has:

Compared to the problem of dying , all the small, petty problems people have in their lives are very very small. I wanted to start a hospital and serve the poor and see them happy, but now i don't have that much time. So i decided to solve the small problems of these people and make them happy.
He will be solving the problems of people (from kids to elders) n make them happy. What impressed me more was ,the small time he is left with , he wanted to spend time helping others, and wanted to be of some help to others!!

Imagine yourself, rather put yourself in that hero's position.
You know that you have only about 2 months left of your precious life, what will you do in those two months?

Will you think of helping others like the hero ?

will you just say, man i have only 2 months, let me enjoy the full time all to myself?

will you keep grieving over the little time you are left with?

will you keep cursing the god for being so unfair to you?

My love..
